Das Team um Peter Sereinigg hat in Graz ein paar wunderbare Tage rund um die Lernplattform Moodle organisiert. Für EntwicklerInnen und AdministratorInnen hat die Tagung schon am 12. September zum Thema Protection of Data Privacy in Moodle begonnen. NutzerInnen und Interessierte hatten dann am Donnerstag und Freitag  die Möglichkeit aus ca. 80 Vorträgen und Workshops auszuwählen. Die Themen reichten von neuesten Moodle Entwicklungen, Implementierungen und Plug-Ins bis zu Berichten von e-LernerInnen. Ein Höhepunkt, wie letztes Jahr in Hagenberg schon, die Konferenzschaltung zu Martin Dougiamas, „the guy who started  Moodle.“

Die e-LISA academy widmet im aktuellen Juni 2007 Newsletter dem Thema Sprachen ein elegantes Dossier. Unter anderem hat auch Mag. Walter Steinkogler vom Abendgymnasium in Salzburg nach einem Interview, das wir im Rahmen meiner Masterthese (Thema: Erstellung eines Curriculums für ein CP Kurs  für FremdsprachenlehrerInnen) gemeinsam geführt haben, einen Artikel über E-learning im Englischunterricht beigesteuert. Mag. Steinkogler hat freundlicherweise zugestimmt, den Artikel auch hier auf dem bildungstechnologie.net Portal zu veröffentlichen. Im folgenden der Artikel.

An interesting call for papers has been sent out via [NETEACH-L], a very active listserv list for CALL purposes, for a Web 2.0 handbook. If not for contributing purposes, I find the the  post shows interestingly what's going on in the world of language learning. The proposed chapters are up to date and useful for the community of language teachers.

The “e” stands for “electronic”, “twinning” for “partnership”. But what exactly is it and what is its benefit for language acquisition in schools?

What is eTwinning?

eTwinning is based on two main ideas: on European cooperation and on the internet. It is part of the eLearning Programme of the European Commission and encourages both short term projects and longer term co-operation between schools all over Europe. It encourages schools to make maximum use of the internet to develop contact with each other, exchange knowledge and improve language skills. Teachers of all schools, subjects and forms can take part in the project with their classes. If they already have a joint partnership (e.g. a Comenius Project), they can deepen it even more; if they are looking for a new partner school, they can choose from 28 participating countries.
